Won't let me connect...

Hi there,

Sorry to bother you about this, but I'm having trouble connecting to the network. Usually I would just be able to work it out myself, but whenever I log in, it says I'm banned due some TOR thing concerning my hostname. I'm sorry, but I have no idea what this means. It seems strange as I was able to log in fine eight hours prior to this and I have never had an issue with logging into kdfs.net before.

If someone could please explain to me what this means, and how (if) it is fixable, that would be great.

Regards,
Armeny.

Hey Armeny, I'm not Staff,

Hey Armeny,

I'm not Staff, but I might be able to help. Like you said, your IP/Host is probably similar to one existing in the TOR database, so it automatically banned you based on that. It happens sometimes, kind of annoying, but we have to deal with it. I know this is a day late, but if you have not been able to reconnect again, I'd try kline@kdfs.net to see if the Staff will see it there. I hope it all works out.

Tor

Usually when someone gets banned due to a TOR reference, it is because they are allowing their internet connection to be used as a tor relay. We originally allowed tor users to be on the network, but we started seeing an increase in the number of bot attacks and eventually had to ban it.

We see problems like yours happen most often from users who are on large networks such as colleges. In the case that you are accidently banned but this, then emailing kline[at]kdfs.net is the right thing to do.

Sorry for the late reply.
